Emergency Service in Winter: How to Qualify & Why It Matters

As December arrives and temperatures begin to fall, our team prepares for the seasonal increase in no-heat calls. Losing heat during the winter months can be a stressful experience, especially when you are trying to keep your family safe and warm. Emergency service exists for these situations, but the most effective way to stay protected is to understand how you qualify and how to prevent emergencies before they occur.

What Emergency Service Includes

Emergency service is reserved for situations where your home may be at immediate risk, including:

  • A complete loss of heat

  • A frozen or nearly frozen heating system

  • Conditions where pipes may freeze

In these circumstances, emergency service allows us to respond as quickly and safely as possible. However, eligibility is dependent on meeting certain requirements.

How to Qualify for Emergency Service

Customers must be enrolled in one of the following programs to receive after-hours or priority emergency service:

1. Automatic Delivery

Automatic Delivery enables us to monitor your usage and schedule deliveries before your tank reaches a critically low level. This significantly reduces the risk of running out of fuel and qualifies you for emergency coverage.

2. A Current, Active Service Plan

Service Plans help ensure that your heating equipment is properly maintained and functioning efficiently. Customers with a valid plan qualify for emergency response should an unexpected breakdown occur.

How to Prevent a No-Heat Emergency

Even if you qualify for emergency service, taking the following steps can help prevent issues during winter:

Keep Driveways and Walkways Clear

Plowed driveways and shoveled paths allow our drivers to access your tank safely.

Ensure Your Fill Location Is Accessible

After snowfalls, check that your fill pipe is visible and reachable.

Monitor Weather Conditions

If extremely cold temperatures are expected, make sure you have adequate fuel on hand.

Maintain Your Heating System

A clean and serviced system operates more reliably and is less likely to fail in freezing weather.

We're Here to Help

Our goal is to keep your home warm, safe, and comfortable throughout the winter season. Enrolling in Automatic Delivery or a Service Plan ensures that you qualify for emergency protection and helps prevent the inconvenience and cost of after hours issues.
