Hinds Energy takes tremendous pride in knowing that our community can rely on us to provide reliable home comfort services and dependable fuel deliveries. Because to us, our customers are more than that. They are our children’s school teachers, lifelong friends, family members, and most of all, our neighbors.
It’s February, and that means it’s the Valentine’s Day season, and we couldn’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy thinking about our community and all the wonderful people who have made it so special since the Hinds family first settled down in Northeastern Pennsylvania over 230 years ago!
Where it all began…
To discuss the history of Hinds Energy, we need to go all the way back to shortly after when America first declared its independence. In 1800, an officer of the Revolutionary War, Captain Bartlet Hinds, first came to what is now known as Montrose, Pennsylvania. There was nothing more than marked trees and a slight path when he built his log cabin. The area went on to become known as The Hinds Settlement.
Today…
Hinds Energy is a third and fourth-generation family business with roots still firmly secured in Montrose. Eldred J. Hinds established Hinds Oil Co. Inc. during another pivotal war, World War II, in 1944. The business started in his home before moving to Post Street in Montrose in 1986, where we still operate today.
Community is more than a word at Hinds Energy.
What first began as a fuel delivery company has transformed over the decades to include, propane, heating, and air conditioning installations and services. In addition to being a local business providing jobs and home comfort services, we just recently renewed our support for the Susquehanna Little League with a $5,000 donation.
